Who we are

Kincardine Art Crawl is a community arts festival organized by the Big Blue Sky Collective in Kincardine, Ontario, Canada. This website (kincardineartcrawl.ca) is used to browse festival events and build a personal schedule.

What we collect and why

If you sign in

We ask for your Google or Facebook account email address and display name. We use this only to save your event schedule so it persists across devices and sessions, and (during the festival) to track your Great Artkin Hunt contest points. We do not use your email for marketing, do not share it with third parties, and do not sell it.

If you don't sign in

We store a random anonymous ID in your browser's local storage. This is used solely to save your schedule for the current session. No personal information is collected.

Schedule data

We store which events you add to your personal schedule. This data is used only to display your schedule back to you, and in aggregate (without identifying you) to understand which events are most popular so we can plan better festivals.

If you play The Great Artkin Hunt

Scanning a venue QR code, submitting a photo, or signing in during the festival may also earn points in The Great Artkin Hunt, our point-based scavenger hunt and prize draw. If you submit a photo, we ask you to confirm you took it and give permission for us to display it publicly on this site (including in the festival photo gallery) - please only submit photos you have permission to share, including of anyone else who appears in them. If location access is available, we use your device's GPS on a best-effort basis to match a photo submission to a recent Artkin sighting; this location is never shown publicly and is only used to decide whether a submission qualifies for Artkin-specific points. Approved contest photos and your chosen display name (initials, first name, or first name plus last initial - you choose) may appear publicly on the leaderboard and in the photo gallery. Every approved point is an entry in a prize draw for BIA bucks, run in partnership with the Kincardine BIA.

If you pay for a paid event

Paid participate-events are processed through Stripe, a third-party payment processor. We never see or store your card details ourselves - Stripe handles payment collection directly, and their own privacy policy applies to that transaction. We keep a record that a payment was made (amount, event, and your email/name) so we can confirm your registration.

What we don't do

  • We do not send you marketing emails or newsletters.
  • We do not sell or share your personal data with any third parties, beyond the service providers described in this policy who help us run the site.
  • We do not run advertising or tracking on this site.
  • We do not see or store your payment card details ourselves - see "If you pay for a paid event" above.

Data retention

Your schedule and account data is kept until you delete it or ask us to remove it. Anonymous schedules that have not been accessed for more than 12 months may be deleted automatically. Artkin Hunt contest entries and submitted photos are kept for record-keeping and the prize draw, and may be removed on request once the festival they relate to has concluded.

Your rights

Under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data. To do so, email us at andreahbarker@gmail.com and we will respond within a reasonable time.

Third-party services

We use Google Sign-In and Facebook Login for authentication. When you sign in with either, that provider's own privacy policy applies to the interaction, and we receive only the email address and display name they provide.

Photos submitted to the site (including Artkin Hunt photo submissions) are stored with Cloudinary, our image hosting provider. Paid event registration is processed by Stripe; we never handle your card details ourselves. Confirmation and notification emails are sent through Resend.

Changes to this policy

If we make significant changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance.
